How Intelligent Membranes Works Closely with Specifiers
Written by
A specifier in the construction industry is responsible for preparing detailed technical specifications for building projects. They outline the specific requirements of a project, ensuring a detailed description of the quality, standards, workmanship, and materials. Specifiers can be:
Architects
Engineers
Designers
Recently, Intelligent Membranes began working more closely with specifiers through NBS Source and the RIBA CPD Providers Network. By working together, we can extend our reach and better inform on the usefulness of our products. In doing so, our aim is to help specifiers and the wider industry form a system which future-proofs building projects and thus protects clients from potential replacement costs.
NBS Source
We joined NBS Source as we believe it is by far the best specification platform around. Before we began showcasing our products with NBS, we tried to reach specifiers the hard way – through cold calling. Using NBS Source has improved our specification process considerably, as we are now able to reach specifiers at the stage when they are looking for the ideal products for their projects. With NBS, you can find the construction product information you need, right when you need it.
‘We’re able to host our product data, third party certification and case studies all in one place, making it easier than ever for specifiers to find out everything they need to know about our product range.’ – Adam White, CEO & Founder.
RIBA CPD
Intelligent Membranes is also a member of the RIBA CPD Providers Network, a group of construction industry businesses and organisations committed to improving standards and promoting best practice through shared knowledge. The network gives construction product manufacturers like Intelligent Membranes the unique opportunity to directly engage with architects and other specifiers by delivering RIBA-accredited CPD content.
This positions us perfectly to educate specifiers who are keen to learn about the latest products and systems on the market. Providers like us can choose to offer CPD (Continuing Professional Development) in a variety of formats such as:
Seminars
Articles
Factory tours
Videos
Podcasts
In-person events
‘The network has given us an additional avenue to reach specifiers and we’ve even been able to follow a specification all the way through the timeline, from delivering CPD to a client to the product then being specified through NBS.’
The Latest Products for Your Building Project
Introducing specifiers to our incredible products is part of our aim to being part of the solution to both building problems and the environmental crisis. Our range features air tightness, vapour control, waterproofing and weatherproofing products that protect your building inside and out.
Airtight Liquid Vapour Control
We’re most famous for our Passive Purple product, which is a Passivhaus certified airtight liquid-applied vapour control membrane which guarantees 0.6 ach or lower on any building under an air test. The product comes in two forms: a brush-on version and a spray or roll-applied version. Passive Purple is suitable for any kind of construction project, including retrofit.
It also comes in an external version to form a weatherproof protective membrane on exposed facades Passive Purple External is airtight, waterproof and vapour control membrane. Just like Passive Purple Internal, the external version also comes in two forms:
‘Although we call it Passive Purple External, it can be used internally and it’s great for heritage projects where the walls need to breathe just that little bit more.‘
Waterproofing and Weatherproofing
In 2023, we launched two new products:
Poseidon: a liquid-applied waterproof tanking system for bathrooms, showers, wet rooms and steam areas that need waterproofing prior to tiling. This is ideal for use under the NHBC Standards 2023 for all new homes built after January 1st 2024.
Passivhaus Brickseal: a clear external waterproof membrane for masonry new and old builds. It protects U-Values and helps to stop damp coming through on projects where a building can not be changed externally.
Conclusion
By partnering with NBS Source and RIBA CPD, Intelligent Membranes is able to work with specifiers throughout the project timeline. We can spread the word about our range of sustainable membranes and other building solutions by reaching people when they are looking for the ideal products for their projects. Alternately, contact us directly to learn more about our products and see how we can help you.
