OVERVIEW
Here we have an off-site modular build, built to Passivhaus standards. This scheme consisted of modular units that were 2.7 m by 13 m long. They were all constructed off-site and delivered to Norfolk. Thanks to the install of Passive Purple, we have created an airtight, methane and radon barrier building.
-
BACKGROUND
The wall/ceiling connections needed to be made airtight, so its all about the preparation works especially when the connections are made of two different types of construction materials. Airtight
Fleece Tape was also installed on the connection steels and joints. Over 2 days 3500m2 of Passive Purple Brush and Passive Purple Internal was installed. -
SOLUTION
This project demonstrates a high level of precision and sustainability in construction. Hospitals are energy-intensive facilities due to their 24/7 operations and the need for strict environmental controls. Enhanced airtightness reduces energy consumption, leading to lower operational costs.
-
RESULTS
Achieving an air test score of 0.2 ACH (air changes per hour) in a hospital modular build is an outstanding accomplishment that highlights exceptional airtightness and energy efficiency.
-
AIR TESTING
Air testing- also known air testing, air permeability testing, air leakage testing, and air pressure testing- measures the amount of air escaping through a buildings envelope.
